CMS ROARS teams race down upper Rejang River

Just returned from our 4th time participating in the Baleh Kapit Raft Safari. 26 CMS staff of all grades, including 8 ladies went. Once again we all enjoyed great camaraderie and had many laughs.

The warm welcome from the organizers and at each longhouse was wonderful and along with the beautiful scenery and the opportunity to sample genuine up river longhouse life more than made up for any physical discomforts on the way.

I have to say no one complained (even the ladies!) which perhaps was attributable to a combination of exhaustion and excitement at all the new experiences unfolding. From paddling hard in swirling river currents, to seeing the traditional miring, coconut cutting and other ceremonies as well as dancing the poco-poco to a live band some 4 hours before we were due to wake up to start our rafting all made for an unrivaled mix of memories.

Big thanks to our support crew from Kapit and to everyone involved. I think this adventure once again brings our CMS family closer together and shows what great people I have the good fortune to work with! I even had some good ideas for improving CMS passed across for me to develop so it was not just all bond and enjoy!
