Launched at 11.11pm on the 11th of November (11.11.17) by His Excellency The Governor Of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud with a beautiful fireworks display. It became an iconic landmark enhancing the beauty of Kuching City which attracted tourists from all walks of life, both locally and abroad.
A meaningful event with the community, hosted by Projek Bandar Samariang (PBS) to mark its 20th anniversary attracted more than 5,000 visitors from Bandar Samariang, believe it or not!
This incredible turnout made the event the largest community-based events ever hosted by a property developer in Kuching’s history.
Kuchingites and out-stationed runners in Betong, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri dusted off their running shoes and adorned fashionable tribal outfits to pace and dash the streets for the CMS Tribal Run 3.0, which took place on Sunday, 27 August 2017. Boasting an impressive 3,100 participants (2,639 in Kuching; 461 in Betong, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri), the sporting event ran with the tagline ‘Run for a Good Cause’, and theme ‘Go Tribal’ was organised by CMS.
And so I started my first run in 2017 with blasts of colours filling the air. Despite it being my fourth participation in this colourful run, it was a first with my mother and sister.
At first, we were thrilled to organise THE PARTY OF THE YEAR!! We were filled with so many ideas but with so little time (and monetary resources… hehe…).
The Samalaju Resort Hotel (SRH), a 4-star hotel which is managed and operated by the Imperial Group, had its soft opening on 20 December 2014. And after close to two years later, it was decided in mid-August 2016 that the SRH would have its grand, official opening on 18th October 2016 after consultation with His Excellency, The Governor of Sarawak’s office.
With the success of our very first CMS Tribal Run in 2015, I was even more excited to participate in the 2nd (CMS Tribal Run 2.0). I trained for my run (or short sprints followed by hops, skips and walks) months before last Sunday’s big run.
